ALL MEMBERS WELCOME
WE HOPE TO SEE YOU ALL!
Open to everyone, but regularly enjoyed by over 400 members and their guests, tucked away on Hill Road, just a short walk from the village centre, Grayshott Social Club has grown over the last 100 years or more to form a social hub for the local community, providing superb facilities and entertainment from Live Sport & Music events to Snooker, Pool & Darts.
Whilst there is evidence of a ‘Working Men's Club’ being in existence since 1898 in 'Grayshott - The Story of Hampshire Village' by J. H. Smith this cannot be corroborated from any existing club meeting minutes which were not kept until 23rd February 1905 when a meeting was held to form a club under the auspice of the CIU (Clubs & Institutes Union) rules, with the club being formally opened on March 1905.
Back in 1898 the 'club' leased one of three Iron Buildings, believed to be approximately where the Chinese Take-away is situated today).
A pint of beer cost 4 old pence though there were no toilets or running water with oil lamps for lighting.
The Club remained there until 1907 when it purchased land in Hill Road, and the club as we know it was born, opening on June 5th 1908.
Many additions have been made to the club over last 100 years including Snooker Room, Toilets, Pool Room & Bathroom (for members who did not have this luxury at home).
Women, Children & Dogs were not allowed into the club until many years later.
In November 2016 Grayshott Social Club was registered as an 'Asset of Community Value' under s.91(2) of the Localism Act 2011 by EHDC.
