Premiership Football Dream Team

Hi All,

Thanks for participating in the Grayshott Social Club Dream Team last season. We did quite well to emulate the Premier League season with one clear winner emerging early and the rest had to fight it out for the remaining places! The top ten were as follows:

1st Place, Lee Thornton – wins £50
2nd Place, Peter Wallace – wins £30
3rd Place, Steve Hart – wins £10
4th Place, Nick Neish
5th Place, Tom Hampton
6th Place, Ciaran McCarthy
7th Place, Gareth Glazier
8th Place, David Holloway
9th Place, Chris Hampton
10th Place, David Richards

Congratulations to Lee for showing us how it’s done this year

As always we will be starting up again for the new season, and the rules are the same as before. A maximum of one team per person can be entered any more than this and both of your teams will be disqualified. £5 per person per entry which must be paid before the 4th week of the season – you can pay over the bar or directly into our bank account – e-mail the club for bank details. We will be keeping a record of who has paid so anyone paying after this date will be ineligible. I will be sending out a list of who has and who has not paid so everyone is clear on who is actually in the running for the prizes this year!

The prizes will be dependent on how many paid entries we will have and I will contact you once the deadline has passed as to the amounts. The league PIN for the upcoming season will remain the same and is SGE23CXA, you can enter using the following link:  Sun Dream Team

Remember you can watch all the live games at the Club, we have full Sky HD and BT Sport HD subscriptions being shown on multiple screens – that’s 166 live games over the season.

Dear member

The Minutes of the Club AGM held on 26th April have now been published and are available for viewing on the Club Notice Board. As explained at the AGM, our finalised Accounts were not available for the Meeting but a draft set were presented, a finalised set has now been received from our Accountant and has also been posted on the Club Notice Board, none of the figures in the finalised Accounts differ from those presented to the AGM.

The AGM agreed that the completed Accounts would be posted on the Club notice board as soon as received, Members notified by e-mail and 10 days allowed for queries to be raised with the Secretary. Once any queries had been answered the Managing Committee would approve the 2017 accounts on behalf of the members rather than convening another meeting to approve them. Francis Verity

Sadly I have to inform you that I have been notified of the death on the 31st March  of one of our Life Members, Francis Verity. Francis lived for many years in Hill Road and was a popular and long-time member of the Club, in particular he was an enthusiastic rugby supporter and his sparring with the late Richard Proctor with regards to the finer points of Welsh and All Blacks rugby were always entertaining. Although moving away some years ago Francis kept in touch and will be sadly missed. Our thoughts are with his family at this sad time.

Membership Renewals – Last Reminder

Our membership year runs from 1st January to 31st December, Club Rule (3) states that any member who has not paid the subscription by 1st February shall be ‘considered in arrears’ and if not paid by 1st March that person shall cease to be a Club member and lose access to membership benefits.

Membership cards of non-renewed members will be deactivated on the 31st March, this means you will no longer earn loyalty points on purchases across the bar (currently worth 10%) and will lose access to accounts and tab facilities until the renewal fee is paid. In addition you will be liable to a ‘guest fee’ of £1 per visit.

Reactivating cards cannot be done immediately over the bar and you will have to wait until the next working day after the renewal fee has cleared. If you have special reasons for not being able to pay or need more time please let us know.

Memberships can be renewed at the bar or online – e-mail the Club for our bank details.

Members Newsletters Upgrade

We have recently improved the way we send out newsletters by email to members and are now using the mailchimp service connected to our website..

If you have already received a newsletter this way you can now update your preferences using the personalised link at the bottom of any email.

We currently have four newsletter options you can select or deselect

  • Events – News about all upcoming club major events
  • Jazz Club – Mike’s Jazz Club newsletters and list of Jazz Club events
  • Football – Live football being shown at the club
  • Rugby –  6 nations rugby and other major games being shown at the club

This gives you complete control over which newsletters you receive from now on.

If you haven’t received newsletters by email this probably means you haven’t told us your email address yet or the one you gave when joining has been changed.

Either way you can now simply subscribe on our  website using the form on the homepage giving your name and email address and indicating which newsletters you want to receive.

There is a pop up captcha screen to click to confirm you are not a robot and that’s it.

Non members can also now subscribe to newsletters in the same way and there is an option to indicate membership status when subscribing.

We will use the Membership option to send emails only to members when this is appropriate – such as this post.

The New Newsletter System is fully automated so that new posts to our club website will be sent out to the relevant newsletter categories at 5pm the same day and upcoming events lists on a weekly or monthly basis

You can unsubscribe altogether using the link at the bottom of the new emails but this means you may miss out on important news or membership matters – so please don’t!

We hope you find these changes an improvement but if you have any problems or suggestions to make please reply to this email or if you are reading this on the website use our contact form
