Jazz Newsletter Christmas 2018

Happy Christmas everybody and we hope to see you tonight at our Jazz Club Christmas Bash with special guest Mike Cotton. It’s been a good year for the Club with outstanding support especially for the concert sessions. In March we had the very talented drummer Steve Rushton with his band featuring Louise Cookman on vocals, they will be back. Then, of course, in May the inimitable Temperance Seven.
Fast forward to July and we were entertained by Tony Jacob’s Tuxedo Orchestra, star studded with some of the country’s finest musicians. Last month’s concert was with our old friends the FB Pocket Orchestra.

Bill, Richard, Nutty, Dave and AN Other continue to provide first class jazz on the last Tuesday of the month ensuring the survival of Jazz at least in our part of the country.
All in all, as I said, it was good year, marred only by the passing of our trumpet player Martin Horsfall at the relatively early age of 54. A benefit for Martin’s family at the October session raised, thanks to people’s generosity, £530.
Enjoy the festivities tonight.
