A good attendance at last month’s session made for a good atmosphere as Mike Cotton took to the stage to illustrate why he is still one of Britain’s leading trumpet players. Kansas City, with Mike on vocals and harmonica, was redolent of the Mike Cotton Sound as his band morphed into R’n’B in the middle sixties. A fitting end to the night’s entertainment. It was also good to see (and hear) bassist Dave vocalising on ‘Devil on my Shoulder’. Dave has a great voice and I’m sure everyone would like to hear more of his vast vocal repertoire.
Next Tuesday, 30th July, we welcome back Andy Norman in his role as super-sub on trumpet. I will be taking care of all things chordal as Bill is away spreading the gospel of the banjo to Norfolkers on The Broads. Nutty is unwell so you will be entertained by the four of us. I am looking forward to playing with Richard and Dave again.
Enjoy the evening
