Jazz Newsletter – March 2019

The next Jazz night is on 26th March and will be featuring, at long last, Andy Norman on trumpet. Nutty is still indisposed but hopes to be back for the April session.

We had a great turnout last month and it was good to have Enrico Tomasso depping for featured guest Graham Hughes. Rico was in fine form and we had a great time.

We have Rico booked for a concert in June and among his quartet will be the legendary Keith Nichols, promoter, arranger, pianist and re-creator of all things Jazz. I, for one, am very much looking forward to that.

We will be presenting our second concert of the year on Tuesday 9th April with Cool Heat, Burning Beat featuring the amazing percussionist Steve Rushton and acclaimed vocalist Louise Cookman. Together with their band they will again be presenting their take on the turbulent lives of Gene Krupa and one of my favourite singers Anita O’Day.

Tickets are £10 and will be available at the Social Club

Enjoy the jazz

Mike
