Last Tuesday (14th May) the club hosted a charity evening in aid of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance. The evening featured a ukulele group, Shades, as the main event with solo artist Victoria on ukulele singing some of her own compositions. I know it’s not everybody’s cup of tea but my grateful thanks go out to the regular jazz members who saved the day with their attendance. I’m delighted to say the evening raised £554.40 for the charity. We must remember that it costs £15,000 a day to run this valuable service and receive no money, to my knowledge, from this government. So every penny collected is vital to the survival of the work of these worthy heroes.
Tuesday 28th May at our regular monthly jazz we feature two new faces. Andy Woon on trumpet. Andy is a regular player with the Harry Strutter Hot Rhythm Orchestra. Tim Asson, the ageless, well-known clarinet player on the scene, will be sitting in Richard’s chair for the evening.
Should be a good night.
Enjoy the jazz
PS Tickets for the Enrico Tomasso concert will be on sale in the club at the next Jazz Club evening.
